Wiring Diagram – Gibson HB – HH – 2X Volume, 1X Tone – Toggle Switch

In this post, you’ll find the details needed to wire up a set of Gibson HB pickups. This configuration is fairly straightforward. Each pickup has a volume control, and there is one master tone. All three of these pots are 500K ohms. The pickup selector in this case is a standard toggle switch, just as you would find in a Gibson Les Paul. The white wire is the “hot,” the black wire goes to the ground, and the red & green wires are soldered together.

Our resident electronics wizard came by his skills honestly — first as an apprentice in his father’s repair shop, later as a working musician and (most recently) as a sound designer for film. His passion for guitar led him to Humbucker Soup, where he continues to decode the wonders of wiring and the vicissitudes of voltage. Ed has never taken his guitar to a shop — he already knows how to fix it.
