ASK-HBS: Charvel 6 Pack Of Sound Modification

6 Pack

Question

Hi there,

I think I’ve stumbled across the world’s most annoying wiring and my friends have told me I’m crazy for wanting this, but I was wondering if you could take a shot at it. It’s a modification to the Charvel 6 pack of sound. For reference, that’s bridge full series, inner coils in parallel, neck full series, and with push-pull, bridge outer coil, outer coils in parallel, neck outer coil.

For reference: https://forum.seymourduncan.com/forum/the-guitar-shop/327935-charvel-six-pack-of-sound-wiring. What I want is: bridge full series, outer coils in series, neck full series, and with push-pull, bridge full parallel, inner coils in parallel, and neck full parallel.

Answer

Hello Peter, and thank you for the great question. This one actually had me thinking quite a bit, so thanks for the challenge. However, I can’t find a way to do what you want to do with such a simple circuit. The problem is that for you to have two coils in series, one needs to run into the other. This mod only allows you to (brilliantly) choose which coils you turn off, but inner, outer, tops, bottoms will all be in parallel. You would need to start with a circuit that doesn’t leave the red and white wire tied together.

Sorry, I couldn’t be more helpful, and thanks for reading Humbucker Soup!
