Vox V846-HW Hand Wired Wah Pedal

vox v846-hwThe Vox V846-HW Hand Wired Wah Pedal is a reissue of the grandfather of all wah pedals, the Vox V846. This classic was used by Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and countless others.

The Vox V846-HW Hand Wired Wah Pedal, as the name suggests, is hand wired on a turret style board. There are no printed circuit boards in this pedal and each is wired by a highly skilled technician. It has true bypass for an uncorrupted signal when the unit is switched off, and it uses a specially-voiced vintage-spec Halo type inductor. Halo inductors were in the original Vox Wah and they had a 500mH – 520mH inductance value, which many believe is the key element for their signature sound. The Vox V846-HW uses a new potentiometer designed for more precise control and even better reliability.

This pedal uses low-noise carbon composite resistors and high-quality polyester film capacitors to get the best possible signal. The foot switch is made by Carling Technology, and the jacks, made by Switchcraft, were chosen for their high quality and durability. The Vox V846-HW is built into a sturdy die cast housing and it’s powered with a 9-volt battery (there’s no ac power jack).
