The Seymour Duncan Catalina is an analog pedal with a number of controls, to include something new: Expression, which allows players to control when the chorus is applied.
The Seymour Duncan Catalina Dynamic Chorus is another 100% pure analogue chorus pedal that uses the “Bucket Brigade Devices” chip to delay the signal. The Catalina has a lot of controls that are designed to help you get your sound just right. The Delay control allows you to set delay times from 6ms to 60ms.
The Depth knob modulates the delay time from no modulation for just a slightly thicker sound, to 50% for a swirly chorus sound. Rate adjusts the speed of the effect from 0.33 cycles per second to 10 cycles per second, Tone allows you to adjust the amount of high end, and Mix lets you adjust the balance between the wet and dry signals.
There’s a true bypass On/Off switch with a blue LED indicator light, and an Expression button which, when engaged, activates the Threshold and Dynamic features. Expression adds something new to the pedal, allowing players to control when the chorus is applied to the signal, based on how hard they play. The Dynamic switch determines if the chorus is applied to hard or soft picking. Threshold controls how hard a guitarist has to play, to engage the effect. The Seymour Duncan Catalina Dynamic Chorus features stereo output jacks and runs on an included external power supply.
