Best Guitar Analog Delay Pedals

best guitar analog delayIf you're in the market for a bucket brigade-style analog delay pedal, here are some well-crafted ones for you to consider. See what you think.

Before we get into the best guitar analog delay pedals, we’ll begin with a word or two about them. Analog delay, using the bucket brigade chip, is a staple effect in many players’ pedalboards. Analog delay works by splitting the signal at the input into two parts and sending one part of the signal right to the output; this is the “dry” signal.

The other part — the “wet signal” — gets sent through a circuit designed for it to take some time passing through. Once the signal passes through the circuit, it is mixed back in with the “dry” one and you have a delay, or echo.

There are many ways to hold up a signal, but the bucket brigade chip is by far the most popular for music effects. Besides its ability to accurately delay a signal, it sounds good when it reaches its limits, producing a warm overdrive-like tone. Because the signal is being delayed using electrical components instead of being stored in “memory” — as compared to digital delays — analogs are not likely to have very long delay times.

Bucket brigade-based delays have had a long run in audio effects and they continue to come out with new models today.  So, what we have here are a few of what we consider to be the best guitar analog delay pedals; see what you think.
