Fulltone Full Drive 2

I’ve always been impressed by this pedal. At first I thought it was a damn good overdrive pedal. As years have passed, nearly ten now, I look back and think: “Man, this is one great pedal”. The feature that always stood out for me is the boost function. In addition to the bypass switch, you can get a nice 20db signal boost. The kicker is that you can control the amount of drive in the boost channel.

Back to basics. The drive is great. For an analog pedal, this one is pretty warm. Mike Fuller does not monkey around. I’ve actually never really come across a Fulltone pedal that wasn’t at least excellent. Some may or may not be your cup of tea, but he makes great sounding pedals. The Fulldrive-II is no exception. The “Comp Cut” feature is a great one as well. This essentially allows you to toggle back and forth between a slighly compressed or non-compressed sound. Both are excellent and have their advantages. There is a surprising amount of drive in this pedal. It does not have a reputation as being one that offers crazy levels of drive, but each time I re-visit this pedal, I am consistently surprised by the amount of drive that is there; more than enough for Blues or most Rock. The double-pedal-sized real estate investment is worth it since this pedal does double-duty. I highly recommend the Fulldrive II if you play Blues or Classic Rock, it sounds excellent.
