I started playing guitar in 1978. I played professionally from 1988 until 2008. It was in this year that while on tour, I was diagnosed with an allergy to nickel. As a result, I developed a fairly unpleasant case of hand eczema. Needless to say, that was the end of professional guitar for me. Shortly after, I built this website.
The purpose of Humbucker Soup was to find an outlet for my 30 years of guitar playing. Although I had to stop playing professionally, I still had plenty of guitar thoughts bouncing around in my head; lots of memories and experiences that were sort of going to waste. So, I decided to put pen to paper and get it all out.
Is this an informational site? Is it a site for tutorials? Op-ed? Who knows. For now it is simply a place for me to put all my “guitar stuff” after so many years of being in love with the instrument. I still love guitar very much, and hope to return to it one day in some manner. Until then, whatever I’ve done with regards to guitar, much of it is in here. I hope that this site provides some level of information, help, or inspiration to anyone to visits. Electric guitar is a wonderful instrument. I feel very fortunate to have played and for the many positive experiences I’ve had.
