Line 6 POD X3 Live Guitar Multi-Effects Pedal

You just have to hand it to Line 6; they really know how to under-promise and over-deliver. If you are in search for a floor-based multi effects processor, this Line 6 POD X3 Live is hard to beat.

The whole “Two Channel” thing is just crazy. Think about it: you essentially have two units for the price of one. In the most extreme case, you can plug two different instruments into the unit and each one has its own dedicated effects processor. Granted, it is unlikely that you will invite your bassist to plug in and share your rig.. but you could. More importantly, anyone with a decent sense of imagination will realize that the sky really is the limit with regards to what you can accomplish here (f0r those who need a hint: create an awesome tone in each channel, and then use the expression pedal to blend the two in real time.)

Before we go too crazy about the many awesome features, let’s get one thing strait; The tones are top-notch. Whether you desire chimey clean or plexi grind, you are more than covered. I used a POD on a three month gig once when I had to do 5 set a night, 6 nights a week, covering a pretty wide range of styles and tones. This unit came through with flying colors. I won’t go too crazy here because hearing is believing, but you can trust me; tone is not an issue with this unit.

Back to the super amazing features.

I don’t mean to harp on non-guitar coolness too much (i.e. my suggestion that your bassist could plug in too), but the fact that this unit ships with a full fledged vocal processor and the ability to record your songwriting ideas should have late night four-trackers grinning ear to ear.  But for guitarists, the sheer amount of stomp box, amp and effects models is just plain crazy. I’m not too sure that you can find a floor-based multi effects unit with more going for it.
