Boss FV-50H Stereo Volume Pedal
There are some great volume pedals out there, and I will get to them shortly. But just a quick note about the FV-50H from Boss. Why? I’ts crazy light and not a bad volume pedal. If you are on the road a lot or just need a volume pedal that is easy on the vertebrae, this one is perfect. While it may not be the most sturdy of all volume pedals, this is the price you pay for the lightweight design. I have used this pedal quite a few time and although it is not made of the same stuff as the Ernie Ball volume pedals, it holds up pretty well.
As a true stereo volume pedal, you naturally have two inputs and two outputs. You can get creative, use a “Y” cord and do all kinds of neat things with two discrete signal paths. There is a minimum level control, allowing you to set the lowest point the pedal goes to. Also you have a tuner out jack that works fine with a tuner as a termination point. This means that you can set your volume to zero by rocking your foot all the way back, but your tuner will still get a signal so you can tune your guitar. The “H” stands for high impedance. That is why this pedal is meant for guitar. There is also a low impedance model (the “FV-50L”), which is better for keyboards, etc….
