Fortunately, it is very easy to differentiate between a Les Paul “Standard” and a Les Paul “Studio”
1. A Les Paul “Standard” has binding on the sides of the neck and body
2. A Les Paul “Studio” does not have binding on the sides of the neck and body
3. A Les Paul “Studio Custom” (built in the mid-80′s) does have binding on the sides of the neck and body, though with dot fingerboard inlays instead of more ornate trapezoids.
