5 Telecaster Bridge Pickups That Rock

If you are a Tele player and are thinking about upgrading your bridge pickup, here are five wonders of modern technology that can really spice up your tone

Seymour Duncan Little ‘59™ for Tele ST59-1b

This pickup gives you the warm tone of a Gibson PAF humbucker, but can drop right into place in your Tele. You will have to wire it properly in order to be able to switch back and forth between series and parallel, but it is more than worth the extra effort. The “Twang” sound is great, but the humbucking mode is surprisingly fat. This is not a super-high-output pickup.

Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound® for Tele  STL-3

This is not a hum-cancelling pickup. What often surprises me about it is that it really does well when you turn the drive up. It still maintains a Tele presence, but has a thickness that is really great.

Lindy Fralin Steel Poled Tele® Style BRIDGE (42)

A vintage-style pickup, but pretty darn hot. What is really cool is that the pole pieces are adjustable. Lindy Fralin does not make bad pickups.

Kinman AVn-48b Telecaster Bridge Pickup

Kinman’s stuff is great. These pickups are dead quiet, so you can really put a lot of drive through ‘em with no worries. Unfortunatey, you have to order then from Australia, but I hear they have a Los Angeles presence now, which might save you on customs charges as well.
